Prompts of the Day:
Humpty dumpty took a great fall (and had a silly name, to boot). So does your character. Where s/he lands, nobody knows. Fall out of a car, off a mountain, oh how the mighty do fall, fall from grace, fall asleep...
Tip of the Day:
Dream sequences, flashbacks, fantasies - these can all make great filler, but some people hesitate to use them because they don't want to mess up the story with something meaningless. I understand that; I try to avoid word-filler for the sake of filler, too (though many people would call avoiding filler a NaNo deadly sin). However, things you write out of sequence, like dreams or flashbacks, can be more than that. Taking a break from your direct narrative can help jostle loose ideas you might have been struggling with, or give you a vehicle to approach something your character is thinking or feeling that s/he might otherwise be reluctant to describe directly.
