Prompts of the Day:
If you're struggling or feeling bored with your story: Introduce a new character in a dramatic fashion, like a car crash or a natural disaster. This character has something to say...
Or, if you don't want to mess with your story that way: The phone rings (or whatever you have in your world that is similar to the phone)
Tip of the Day:
1. Don't try to get it right the first time - write first, edit later.
2. Don't revise during November.
3. Write with friends, for support and competition.
4. Stand up and stretch frequently.
5. If you feel stuck, change your method.
6. FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, BACK UP YOUR WORK.
7. Try to figure out how and when you work best, and plan for that. Create the right writing situation.
8. Don't abuse your body or mind so much they give out on you.
9. Stay away from time-suck distractions that kill your motivation.
10. Go out and spend time in the real world occasionally.
11. Don't give up if you're behind, and don't get complacent if you're ahead.
12. Seriously, DO NOT try to revise, rewrite or edit during WriMo.
13. Set goals based on what you know about your abilities and your writing style.
We're half-way through November. Pat yourself on the back for making it this far, no matter how many or few words you have.
Then back up your work and get back to typing. No time to rest on your laurels now.
